The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) records and sends information to the ECM or PCM on the position of the cam shaft while it is in motion. This information is needed to determine the positioning of the intake and exhaust valves in order to operate the fuel injectors and ignition system.
Some common symptoms of a bad camshaft sensor is poor engine performance, misfiring, shifting issues, greater fuel consumption and could send your vehicle into limp mode.
